I'm feeling a little down today, and it only got worse after reading Sharon's post about Anthony Burgess being "restricted" in Malaysia (dunn dunn dunnnnnn!).
So! I think I'll take a little walk, albeit virtually, around the literary blogosphere and see what gems I can find to cheer me up:
So! I think I'll take a little walk, albeit virtually, around the literary blogosphere and see what gems I can find to cheer me up:
- Ah! I see James Meek has been awarded his second £10,000 prize of the year for his novel set during the Russian civil war, The People's Act of Love. Good for him! I must read this one day.
- Have to show these damn authors I'm as smart as them! Tips on how to accomplish this.
- John McNally gives his book to his writer-hero, but she sells it off...
- Nick Hornby tells you how to read.
- Hot. Library. Smut. (Thanks, Swifty)
- What if a book could escort you throughout a destination?
Your welcome, man!
ReplyDeleteThose libraries were beeee-yooo-tee-full!
ReplyDeleteyou're a terrible distraction you know that?
ReplyDeletei loved the story about the inscribed book that got sold ... ouch
btw i'm enjoying my righteous indignation and trying to dig deeper about the restrictedness of this book and others ... what pisses me off big time is why is there no list the public can consult? for all i know the distributor could be telling stories ...
And I thought Ursula K LeGuin was supposed to be a nice person! Maybe she forgot about it and accidentally sold it off...
ReplyDeleteThe list is restricted too! If we had a list of restricted books we could check through, for sure we'd be buying the whole lot of them!
But you could be right... maybe this is all a big prank and the distros are all in it together!
