Malaysian writers Aneeta Sundararaj, Saradha Narayanan and A. Jessie Michael have teamed up to write and self-publish a collection of short stories entitled "Snapshots!".

The thing is, Snapshots! is NOT self-published. We've got a publisher - Oak Publication.
We took the traditional route of submitting our stories out to publishers and Oak agreed to take our work.
As for our stories not appealing to the gay community, as far as I know, people who are gay are still men or women first. My suggestion, read the book first ... You never know what you'll find!

Ted, I love the fact that you've 'struck out' rather than just deleted the words 'self-publish'. Great way to bring more attention to this point.
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one to make this assumption as many have said it to me verbally. I'm not quite sure how they came to this particular conclusion. When I ask them how they came to this conclusion, they too say they assumed it. They don't know why either.
As for it appealing to the gay community, ah ... I did take it as a joke. I've been in this industry long enough to know when to be angry and not and this is small stuff - no need to sweat over it.
I just like to be transparent on this blog, that's all. If I've edited something out, I have to show it so that the readers know what's changed. That it brings attention to the point is just a bonus.
ReplyDeleteWell, why I assumed that the book was self-published was because I knew that you self-published "Banana Leaf Men" so I thought you went the same route with "Snapshots!". It seemed like a logical route to take. But it's great that it got taken up by a "traditional" publisher.
