The latest issue of Granta is about travel writing, and The Independent has a review of it:
Where did travel writing go next? The answer, if this collection is anything to go by, is nowhere very fast. The destinations now seem too familiar - and, of course, in this age of lemming travel and shrinking planet, the contributors aren't to be blamed for that.Anyone know where I can buy this issue locally without resorting to buying online? I've seen some issues of Granta in Kinokuniya but I think those were quite old...
I'm subscribe to Granta. I think if you happen to drop by Singapore, you might get the latest copies. I remember reading that Granta is distributed to Asia from there. If you enjoy Granta why not subscribe? If you're really interested in some stories let me know. I might find the time to scan some into an ebook.
ReplyDeleteLeon, I would love to subscribe, but the thing is, not all the issues and themes interest me. And I'm not likely to go to Singapore anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the offer of scanning, but I prefer having something physical to read, as I do most of my reading on the LRT to and from work and I don't have a digital device to read e-books on. The offer is much appreciated though.
I guess I may have to just buy it online...
